Dad’s Garage:
Minding Your Corporate Business
Founded in Atlanta in 1995, Dad’s Garage is a world-renown, non-profit comedy theatre company specializing in improvisation. For over twenty years, we’ve partnered with companies and individuals to teach them how to apply universal skills through an improv lens to achieve their business imperatives while boosting employee morale.
The Power of Improvisation
Acceptance, listening, collaboration, and creativity are core improv (and everyday) principles.
Here’s why:
Acceptance is arguably the most important skill in improv. Things are constantly changing. Acceptance doesn’t mean we have to like something and it allows us to make the most out of the worst situations.
Listening - It is the key to understanding and accepting what another person is communicating. Listening to understand, not just waiting for our turn to talk.
Collaboration is the difference between a team and a group. We make each other look good by adding on to another person’s idea.
Creativity is what happens when we fully accept the ideas of others. We rediscover a sense of play and ask ourselves “what if…?” We can try all ideas while still maintaining a safe space for creation.
